I have been busy sewing!!  So far this week, I have finished the purple polka dot shirt in my previous post and 3 1/2 skirts!  The first skirt was just a standard short kaki skirt.  The second one was a brown wool skirt in the below pattern, McCall 4662.

The other 1 1/2 is the Simplicity 4365 pattern below.  The one completed was a purple wool for my friend Jennifer.  I love making her stuff!  The one not yet finished is light grey cotton and is for me!!  By the beginning of next week I might have a whole new wardrobe!!

I have really enjoyed this week of sewing and I know it is going to continue!  As soon as I have pictures of the finished projects, I will post them!!

Jack's pirate costume and more!!

I forgot to post Jack's pirate costume!!  This was his very first Holloween, so we had to dress him up!  He was Jack the one eyed pirtate!!  The little thing dangling by his face is his eye patch.  He wasn't a fan of it over his face, but he didn't mind it off to the side.

Doesn't he just look like he wants to plunder something!!  The orange thing on his back is his parrot.  Recently we had to lay his parrot to rest b/c we gave it to him that night to play with.  It no longer has wings or feet and the stuffing is still in my bed!

All of the trick or treaters really wore him out!!  He is just so tiny!!

No post in a month!!!

Well, I haven't posted in a month!!  I know, bad blogger!!  I've been a little busy lately and I haven't had a camera to take pictures of projects.  Here are my recent projects that I have started and a few that I am going to start in the near future.

I started a vest for my boyfriend, Ricky, last week.  It is for a Mardi Gras ball at the end of February.  The vest is gold squined and it is great!!  I haven't finished it b/c I am going to wait until closer to put the finishing touches on it in case he gains or loses weight.  I will make sure to post a picture then.  Speaking of Mardi Gras, below is a sketch of the dress I am making myself for the ball.  It will be fairly easy to make, but I am beading the top, so that will be time consuming!!  It will be made of chiffon in 3 different shades, nude, light pink, and apricot with the top covered in rhinstones and clear/silver beads.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I started this shirt last night.  It is McCall's pattern 4454.  The material that I am using is a silky purple polka dot that is pictured below it.  The material isn't as dark as it looks in the picture, but I had to use a scanner as a camera.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This top is going to be out of the navy blue and pink polka dot material below.  It is McCall pattern 4834.  I will probably start it some time next week.

I also have a few skirts that I am going to start making, but I'm going to wait to post the pattern once I figure out what material I am going to use!

Needle Pal

So, I sent my stuff to my needle pal. I can't wait to hear if she likes it. I sent her a few things, but I couldn't go too overboard. My boyfriend put me on a budget since we are moving on Thursday (YEAH, THURSDAY!!!!). We have been buying a few things for the new apartment and have so much left. We both agreed that we would be careful what we spend until after we are in the apartment and have everything that we need. I have now been in different yarn stores and fabric stores 4 times without buying something that I don't rationalize that I need. I am highly impressed with my self restraint!!!! I was afraid that I was going to have to put myself on yarn and fabric restriction, but I have controlled the obession on my own!!

Jack's straight jacket

Ok, so the sweater did not turn out well. I put it on him and he couldn't walk in it!! He would try to run around and he would just fall over. I am a mean mommy and I left it on just to laugh at him. I decided that I am going to buy him a sweater instead. Hopefully I will have it perfected before it gets cold here. I do have until January and then it might be cold for like a week!! I am just kidding, but it is practically true. I am making him a little scarf out of the yarn and the sweater I am getting him is a cable knitt in off white, so it will go very well. Ricky said that he is going to look like a preppy college boy. He is even considering buying him a couple of rugby shirts. I know, we are pathetic. I laugh at people who dress up their animals, but here I am doing it myself!!! It started out for a practical reason. Jack gets cold when I walk him in the morning and it is 71 degress outside!!! I can't wait to post the scarf. I will also put a picture of the sweater, but it is going in the frogging pile!!!

I have been shopping for my needle exchange pal. Tee hee!! She is going to be so happy!!!!

Jack's sweater

I have started knitting a sweater for my dog Jack. I am using Lion Brand Wool Ease in Wood 232. Jack is going to look so cute!!! I am about half way finished with it. I might be able to get my parents to take a picture of it so I can post it. We also got Jack a football jersey! It is red, white and black. Those are the colors of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette which is the college in our town. He looks so cute!!!!! Because he is small, he would probably be a kicker!!!

The reason I have been so busy lately is that I am moving on October 6th. I am excited, but it is a lot of work. The other reason is I had to drop out of school. Yes, I have now dropped out of college twice! This time the government didn't want to give me enough money to go to school b/c I am under 24 and they think my parents should pay. I tried to get private loans, but I couldn't. It doesn't matter anyway b/c the way my school is set up, I will be a dependent next year too. Since I dropped out, I will be enrolling as an independent and everything will work out. I will enroll again next year after I turn 24 and I will be ok. I am just going to be delayed a year, so it isn't a big deal. At least I want to go back!!!!

I haven't had time to knitt or sew b/c of this and b/c of moving. My boyfriend won't let me buy anymore yarn or fabric until after we move, but that is only 3 weeks and I still get to buy stuff for the needle exchange. I still can't find my camera, so I won't have any pictures until I do. I have a feeling that I will find it on the day I move somewhere behind the couch!!!!

Needle Exchange

I am so sorry that I haven't posted my answers to the questionaire yet. I've been a little busy, but that is no excuse. I really want to be surprised. I am so new to knitting that I don't really know what I want yet. I only own 2 sets of needles right now, 10.5 and 13 both bamboo. I am still exploring all of the different types of yarn that is available and I haven't run into any that I don't like. I am very excited about this and I can't wait! I hope my needle pal likes to be spoiled b/c I am known for spoiling people!!!!!!

I moved around my pictures in photobucket and it deleted the link to the pictures on my blog!!! I definitely learned my lesson on that one. I will be posting all of my finished projects on virgiefinishedprojects.blogspot.com incase anyone would like to see something that is no longer here! I tried fixing the links, but it isn't allowing me to, so I will just have a funny looking blog for a while!!

Jennifer's Scarf!

This is my second knitting project. I started it last night. It is a drop stitch scarf that I am knitting for my friend Jennifer. I can't remember the name of the yarn, but I will look it up and post it when I finish the project. A lot of people said that I should not use any novelty yarn so soon, but I haven't had any problems with it yet and I am almost halfway done (I have done more since these pictures). I think I find the yarn easy to work with b/c it is an easy pattern. I am probably going to eat my words when I do another project with novelty yarn!!

This is a close up so you can see the drop stitch. I haven't stretched them out too much yet, so it may look a little uneven.

Here is a picture of the whole thing so far. It is incredibly soft!!! Jennifer is a freak for green and her favorite shade of green is lime. The yarn actually has a lot more yellow in it then this picture gives it credit for. I think it may be the lighting.
